If only 1 out of each 100 followers buys this product you’d make 10 x $60 = $600 dollars!
That’s all by sending a 140 characters maximum message.

But there’s one more reason why affiliate marketing works so well on Twitter…
The problem with affiliate marketing is that many people won’t consider the good things you’re saying about a product if you’re making money by recommending it.
And it’s very easy to spot if you’re going to make money off that recommendation.
Affiliate links always come with some type of tracking code at the end.
Example: if the product website’s address is www.weightlossproduct.com, your affiliate link will be something like… www.weightlossproduct.com/?referredby=john
People see that tracking code at the end of the link and thus are hesitant to click the link and buy the product.
But that’s not a problem when you’re doing affiliate marketing on Twitter.
Since messages HAVE to be short on Twitter, everyone uses “url shorteners”.
A url shortener is a website like TinyURL.com, where you post a link, and it gives you a shorter version of it, that when reached redirects to the bigger link.
So instead of posting a message like you would on your blog, with the whole tracking code exposed, on Twitter you’d post something like that:
Can you see why conversion rates are much better on Twitter?
This shortened url will redirect to YOUR affiliate link and no one will think you’re selling them anything!
While you’ll see this tweet as a way to make money, your list will see it as a great tip for themselves…
